About Nine Currents Advisors

The world is dividing into two stacks. Two supply chains, two standards, two capital markets, two innovation systems — each growing deeper, and further apart. Most companies, however good, will spend their lives inside just one.

Yet the great challenges of our time — energy, health, climate, computing — do not respect this divide. The best answer may be born in one stack's laboratory, and still needs the other stack's industrial soil to become real.

Nine Currents is the interoperator. We help the world's near-commercial technologies take root in China's supply chains, engineering depth, and vast application scenarios; we help Chinese companies establish their bridgehead in markets beyond; and where we see conviction, we invest.

We are not observers. We build alongside founders — landing the first project, then scaling it to many. And because we are on the ground for every project, we invest in what we have already helped prove.

Our Mandates

1. Bringing Global Innovation to China
China compresses time. What takes years elsewhere — sourcing, prototyping, iteration, first revenue — can happen here in months.
For international startups approaching commercialization, we open access to China's supply chain, engineering capabilities, and real-world application scenarios — shortening the path from prototype to production, and from technology to revenue.
For established companies with proven products but no local channels, we identify the right Chinese industrial partners, land a first demonstration project, and replicate rapidly once the model is proven. From zero to one, then one to many.

2. Taking Chinese Technology Global
Entering the other stack is not a shipping problem — it is a trust problem. We build that trust in three layers:
Be Seen — International Brand Building. Through our bilingual content and communications network, we build clear brand presence and industry visibility in target markets, opening doors to key local resources.
Be Trusted — Academic Endorsement. In partnership with leading overseas research institutions, we provide independent, third-party validation of technology and business models — credibility that markets and partners recognize.
Be Paid — Biopharma IP Licensing. We support Chinese biotech and pharmaceutical innovators in out-licensing and transferring intellectual property, converting R&D into overseas clinical progress and revenue.

3. Cross-border Technology Fund
Most funds invest first and hope for execution. We execute first, then invest.
Nine Currents is preparing a cross-border dual-currency fund to back the companies we have already worked with on the ground — projects we have landed, models we have proven. Advisory generates the pipeline; execution de-risks it; capital scales it. This is the closed loop at the center of everything we do.

Aaron is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) with more than two decades of experience across Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Shenzhen, specializing in cross-border finance, alternative investments, and investment platform development.

Earlier in his career, he held roles at ANZ, Deutsche Bank, and Singapore Exchange (SGX). After returning to China, he built three investment platforms from the ground up, each based on a distinct business model: establishing an alternative investment business at Ping An Bank’s head office, focused on China-concept stock repatriation and structured financing; leading China Merchants Investment Management (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., focused on special situations investments and industrial restructuring; and founding BOC Equity Investment Management (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., a cross-border technology and industrial fund platform—the only cross-border alternative investment platform within the Bank of China Group’s banking arm.

In 2020, he was invited to appear in the official documentary commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, as one of 40 international professionals featured and one of only two representatives from the financial sector.

Through firsthand experience in international institutions, Chinese state-owned enterprises, private companies, and entrepreneurial platforms, Mr. Huang has developed a deep understanding of the practical differences among jurisdictions, institutional systems, capital frameworks, and industrial ecosystems—and, more importantly, how to make them work together.
